1994 6.5

I am looking at a 1994 chev 3/4 ton 6.5 turbo diesel 5spd with 190k. What to look for as far as problem areas,how are they for power,thanks

well I don't know alot about that paticular engine,
but the first thing I would check is
1. it should start fairly easy with one cycle of the glow plugs ( if not then you could have a glow plug issue, and or a low compression issue)
2. when the engine is up to temp at idle you shouldnt get much smoke at all out of it , if you get a lot of blue smoke/gray smoke then you probably got an injector or two dribling then you would need to change injectors,
3. the turbo should spool up rather quickly under load I would say normal about 3-5 seconds if it takes along time you could have injection pump and or injector issues ,
diesels fuel systems can be expensive to repair and that sounds like it has alot of miles.
other than the normal things leaks,engine knocks ect
I can't think of anything you should pay close attention to ,
