2002 rear end noise
I have a 2002 surburban 2wd, 70,000 miles. Just this week I started to get a noise from the rear end. I checked the oil in the rear and it was fine. I put it on stands and put it in gear and the noise went away. Put it back on the ground and it started again. It does not do it backing up and only at low speeds in foward. It gets lower the faster you go and stops at around 35-40 mph. Any ideas?

Re: 2002 rear end noise
Welcome to AF. Sounds like pinion bearings or poor tooth contact, only a disassembly will tell.
