Electrical Problems

I am looking at buying a talon and i found a very clean looking one (N/A) for $3000CDN. Only problem is that it has electrical problems.

The owner says the car currently doesn't run. He took it to midas and they said it has minor electrical problems but they have to search for the direct cause. He also said the cost shouldn't be too much to fix.

I am a little bit skeptical about this and i am wondering if any of you have any ideas about what the problem could be or how much it would cost to repair?

Re: Electrical Problems

There was really no need to make a new thread about the same car.

Anyways it could be tons of things. It depends on what the car is doing. will it turn over? Does it get fuel? Spark? Could be a loose or corroded wire, or it could be the ECU has gone bad. With electrical problems there is no telling how simple or difficult it will be to fix.

Re: Electrical Problems

It's generally $60 an hour... and they can be in there for a long while, so I wouldn't even bother with a shop Maybe take it to someone you know that is more inclined with electrical work, or else find another DSM maybe.. just what I think. Good luck!

Re: Electrical Problems

I personally wouldn't get the car. Provided it is an electrical problem, you could have it fixed in 30 minutes, or you could be there for 3 months. Then again, you might find out the guy is lying to you and the problems are mechanical.

I would never buy a car that doesn't run, unless I can diagnose the problem before I buy it. But that's just my opinion.....and we know what they say about opinons.

Re: Electrical Problems

If it shouldn't be too much to fix, then he would have fixed it and sold a running car for more
