Got the new turn signal - rapid blinking
Just changed out the turn signal that broke in my daughter's accident. When I tested it, I found it blinked rapidly...and very annoyingly. The other side works properly. Where is the capacitor or whatever electrical device that determines the blink rate? Is it in the new turn signal/housing? I can't leave it like that!

Re: Got the new turn signal - rapid blinking
Maybe a loose connection? This is a load dependent phenomenon? I put the old bulb in the new housing and get the same fast blink rate. Bad ground? The old broken housing blinked at the correct rate.

Re: Got the new turn signal - rapid blinking
Screw it. It's going back. I put the old, cracked housing back in and it works fine. Has to be this new one from Partsbin.com. I'll just epoxy the old one and wait for my refund.

Re: Got the new turn signal - rapid blinking
Its either the wiring or bulb from the new one. The blink rate is determined by the load. Normally when it starts blinking fast that means the bulb is burned out (half the normal load).

Re: Got the new turn signal - rapid blinking
Put the old bulb in the new housing and it still blinked at the higher rate. Gotta be the wiring in the new housing. Bummer is that it may take 4-6 weeks for a refund, and that's if the manufacturer agrees the part is defective.

Re: Got the new turn signal - rapid blinking
Any suggestions for a good plastic repair product? Marine epoxy?

Re: Got the new turn signal - rapid blinking
The best luck I've had with plastic was the 10 ton 2 part epoxy from walmart. Looks like a double barrel syringe. I used it to glue the mount back onto the windshield for my m'cycle and it lasted a long time. Till some yutz kicked it over again and broke the hell out it. Had to clamp it and left it sit over night. I also used it on my power steering reservoir for the rodeo after I broke it trying to get it off the bracket.

Thanks. I'll try it.
