95 Rodeo Rear Defroster

OK I searched the net with no real success on my problem. I hope somebody can help me on this one.
I have a non working rear window defroster.
Items checked: Fuse Block, All Visible relays, Switch, Connections at the rear window.
I have light when switch is pushed but no power at the window plugs.
I cant seem to locate the relay associated with the switch.
Anybody know where this is? Or know of a troubleshooting tip.
I just purchased this 2wd rodeo with intentions of doing a solid axle swap and converting it to 4wd. Everything else works great except the alarm and rear window defroster. Washington State is a place where you really need the window defroster working. I really dont care about the alarm problem.
Thanks in advance,
Dennis

Re: 95 Rodeo Rear Defroster

If your defroster circuit is anything like mine on the 95.5, its pretty simple.

Check both fuses on the left side of the dash, CB-17 & CB-18. Both need to be good for the defroster to work.

Next, check the relay behind the left kick panel. You will find 4 relays there, the one you are concerned with is the top relay. Pins 2 & 4 are the low amp side and pins 1 & 5 are the high amp side. Check it to make sure it is good as well.

You may want to trace the hot lead (black / red) from the defroster grid back to pin 1 of the relay to make sure there is continuity. Check the ground lead (black) from the defroster grid back to ground to make sure there is continuity.

This information will help you get started on the problem.

Let us know how it works out.
