98 chevy s-10 blazer 4.3L v6 Vin code W

I just installed a new Longblock W/O the external parts. I have bought all new plugs, wires, rotor, cap, disributor, pcv valve, air filter, fuel filter, crank shaft position sensor, ect..... when I went to start it the engine cranked over but would not start. I think my timing is off I have the # 1 piston TDC on the compression stroke still nothing. How do I correctly time this engine? Do I have the wrong piston at TDC?

Welcome to AF.
After you got it on TDC compression and timing mark at 0 degrees.
Set the dist as marked or outlined in the picture below.

Re: 98 chevy s-10 blazer 4.3L v6 Vin code W

I tried what you said but no start. I am baffled my Chiltons says my firing order is 1,6,5,4,3,2 I got my # 1 cylinder on TDC on the compression stroke. My chiltons also says my engine will be timed when my camshaft sprocket and the balance gears are properly aligned at 6 and 12 oclock and the # 4 piston will be at TDC on the compression stroke. I removed my timing cover and valve cover and watched as my #4 piston got TDC on its compression stroke. the marks on the sproket and balance gears are all aligned. I then droped my distibutor had my rotor facing the # 6 on my distributor put the cap on and tried to start it I got nothing. so I put the # 4 piston back on TDC compression stroke droped the distributor had the rotor facing the #4 plug wire it almost started. It is an Enhanced Distribitor Ignition system, the computer times the engine. What do I do? I also got a code P1345 on my obdII scanner my Chiltons says its Crankshaft position (CKP) or Camshaft Position Correlation (CMP) What does that mean?

Forget the no 4 Chiltons stuff.
Get no 1 TDC and make sure you are on compression stroke.
Hold your finger over but not in No 1 cylinder hole and crank engine to feel for compression stroke.
Set the dist rotor to the no 6 mark on dist housing.
Remember no 1 piston is on drivers side.
And pistons no are odd no. on drivers side front to back 1-3-5
Passengers side are even no. front to back 2-4-6
