use whatever you want for power, ground, etc...and tap into the blue wire at the distributor or the blue (?) wire behind the gauge cluster....sombody else can confirm the color of the wire behind the cluster...its been awhile..

Just did mine in my 89 std hatch. No factory tach. you will have to run your tach sense wire into the engine bay. You can tap into the blue wire coming off the distributor but to make it look cleaner (basically not have one single wire ran across your intake manifold or valve cover) you can catch the same blue wire in the left side of the engine bay at the molex plugs. By left side I mean passenger side. Its the smaller of the two plugs(the one closer to the motor). You can catch power and illumination the fuse box by using a female spade(speaker connector). There are unused male terminals in your fuse box. Test them with a multimeter. To make sure you have the correct blue wire for the tach test it with a digital multimeter with the engine started. The tach will fluctuate between 2 and 10 volts of AC current. That should be it. Anymore questions hit me up dood.

There will still be a Blue Tack wire behind your gauge cluster, even with your car not coming stock with a tach. Honda didn't feel like making several different wire harnesses for different models, so all the wires are in the right place. I have not hooked up a aftermarket tach in my car, but I have swapped my gauge cluster for one with a tach and it did already have a tach wire there. Also there is a ground and power wire behind there, but I wouldn't use the power wire b/c it will drain the power on your gauge lights also.

Yep there ya go. Blue wire on the back of the guage cluster. As your facing the cluster it will be the left side connector on the back of the cluster. There is a connector running out of it, just solder onto it making sure the connector will still slide into the cluster.
