Radiator Drain Cock Leak

('95 Voy 3.0: 116K miles)
I completed the Prestone Super Clean procedure and the drain cock has a leak. I have a replacement on order, so I'm asking if someone has a temporary fix for this leak.

no temporary fix for this one,as RIP said O-ring. It's such a bad design that I keep extra O-rings just for that reason.

Re: Radiator Drain Cock Leak

I agree. I drain by removing the lower radiator hose as well. Attempted to remove the drain cock once, but it's plastic and was distorting with pliers on it. Didn't want to break the darn thing, and have avoided using it since.

Re: Radiator Drain Cock Leak

i also agree i broke my valve off during a flush so i contemplated the cost of fixing vs just putting new o-ring on it and zip tying it around the tank and using lower hose for drain from now on , zip tie was cheap so did that one has worked well for over a year now and saved some money

Re: Radiator Drain Cock Leak

I bandaged what remained of the o-ring with teflon tape. The "special order" drain plug should be in tomorrow.
