Replacing Water Pump 1999 Cavalier
My water pump went out again. This is the 3rd one in 100,000 miles?
I do drive alot. No real complaints about the car since it has been fairly dependable. The past 2 water pumps were done by the local mechanics - this one Ill do. I thought it was tied to the timing belt and just didn't want to deal with it. Doesn't look like it is? Any thing I should be aware of? I've changed dozens of Water Pumps on everything from Oldsmobiles, Toyotas, Datsuns, Mazdas etc.... Never any problem. For some reason I was told this car is trouble? More than just removing everything to get to it? Doesn't seem too bad except the 400 foot long belt looks fun to put back on. Am I missing something? Thanks |

Re: Replacing Water Pump 1999 Cavalier
yes its easy. If you remove the fender liner and wheel, between that and going from above its a fairly easy thing to replace. The 2.4L is where its a nightmare.

Thank you. And for the advice about the wheel and fender liner. It looked simple.
