acceleration sucks
hey guy, im askin about my dads car, alot of the time while driving on the highway, going at a steady speed the acceleration will suck, you have to take your foot off the gas completely and then put it back on and it will go again. any ideas what the problem could be?
its a 2001 CR-V.

Smoke, do you mean it's hesitating or just overall sluggish. More details yield more answers. |

Re: acceleration sucks
I noticed something similar in my 01 EX, I was told that the engine downshifts when you take your foot off the gas completely and then apply pressure again. I know the gear ratio of 4th ( and every other gear for that matter) is reeeaallly bad and that mixed with the comparatively low horse power of the engine could account for sluggish acceleration. Also another reason could be in the throttle; I use to floor it as I took of from a dead stop and I noticed how it would delay the action about a third of a second before anything happened.
I could be totally wrong...but I think that could be a reason...good luck. |
