Is this bad?

I have seen so many pictures and people talking about this but i just want to know if it is bad or not...I know people that don't put an intake on their car. They just leave it open with nothing out. Is it bad or is it better for your car? thanks alot

Re: Is this bad?

Yes and no...Yes it is bad because any debris particle can simply get sucked in and cause damage...maybe not right away but eventually, especially if you don't change your oil often..Dust, sand can get it and do damage to your cylinder walls and cylinder head..

No/Better, if you plan on using your car without any filters (if that's what you mean by intake) for a short period of time..i.e. racing because you can really feel the loss in power by running with any sort of filters on.

But it all depends on how your motor is built. I've ran with filters on in the past and actually made decent power (safely).

Re: Is this bad?

It will also change your powerband, by not having an intake on. If you're thinking about doing this on the car you listed in your signature (with those mods listed) then don't do it.

Re: Is this bad?

I dont have the black box on there I knew that if you take it off it would sound different. I have an intake on it...I was thinking about taking it off and just putting the filter right up to the throttle body. It was like that when i bought the car and it sounded better for some reason then with an actual intake on...What do you guys think? im just looking to make my car sound better...right now it sounds like a weed eater cause there is no cat on it and I hate it lol.
