I’d love a forcefield for my car so that I could park it anywhere without fear of having someone opening their doors into it or it being stolen.

I'd pay good money for that.

Cell Phones that work underwater

From experience if you have a mobile phone on you when you have a drysuit on then the pressure and depth from most recreational dives doesn't really affect them.

Of course, you can't answer the things and at most depths the mobile signal is poked because it doesn't penetrate very deep into the water.

Oh and if you are wearing a semi-dry or a wetsuit, seawater results in a 'rooted' (kiwi technical term) phone. After exposure to seawater they pretty much are non-operational in a few days.

What I would like is a device that irons my cotton business shirts in 5 seconds without hassle and with all the creases in the right places.

Now that would be useful.

A universal remote control for your TV, stereo, whatever, but it has a cigarette lighter and bottle opener built in.

Keyless entry for my house. (this already exists, but I would really like to have it).

A self-cleaning litter box that actually does what it's supposed to.

Also, I think that Cheetoh dust should be marketed in a sprinkle can.

Oh, and one other thing...

I'm a REALLY deep sleeper and not a "morning person", so I've always had trouble waking up in the morning... usually, I would just sleep through the alarm no matter how loud it was. However, if the phone rang, I wouldn't seem to have a problem waking up to answer it. My theory is that I got so used to the sound of the alarm clock that I was able to "tune it out", whereas the phone ringing was not so commonplace that it grabbed my attention...

Anywho, it'd be nice to have an alarm clock that would play random sounds for the alarm signal... stuff like gunshots, people screaming for help, police/fire sirens, car alarms going off, bomb blasts, you get the idea...

When we are sailing we use purpose-made waterproof pouches for the cell phones - these are clear plastic pouches with a bright yellow float attached so they can be retrieved if they go overboard. We usually stow the phones in the pocket that holds the tails of the main halyards on the back of the cabin.

We have dropped one over the side while cruising and have retrieved the phone intact and dry.

As for the alarm clock thing - my stereo has a timer on it and I can programme for it to start a tape or a CD or the tuner and adjust the volume to a certain level. It also has a sub-woofer attached - I have a fairly large stacker CD system and it could end up playing all sorts when it's set up on shuffle.

Therefore I got out of bed this morning to the wonderful sound of PJ Harvey and yesterday I was rudely awaken by RATM screaming 'WAKE UP!!!...'

Studies have shown that RATM will always wake me up.

Too bad they're not together anymore...

A hand held ATM scrambler would be good - walk up to machine, point and click, entire contents of cash machine is dispensed into your hand....

or a CTRL = ALT=DVRCE command would be good...

Actually, I just sold my remote control. It was hella cool, cost about $500 when I bought it. I only paid $150 though, sold it today for $125...

www.pronto.philips.com

Was a great remote, but since it's all touch-screen, you can't feel the buttons, so anytime you wanna change the channel or whatever, you gotta stop and look at it, and if it's not on the right screen, you gotta screw with it some more, then change the channel (or whatever)...
