fitting tires

Probably a stupid question and everybody here knows it already but I have a set of tires on my vehicle and I have another set of 4 tires that I took of another vehicle. How do I find out if the 4 tires that I took of the other vehicle will fit on my vehicle. Does the numbers p245/75r15 mean anything. Anything else I should look for. Thanks

The first thing you should look for, among others is the R15. The R15 on the tire is telling you the rim size in your case 15inch.. If those #'s are not the same on the 2 sets of tires, you wont be able to mount them..

245/75/15. 245 is the width of the tire in millimeters. 75 is the height of the sidewall. It is a percentage of the width. So the height on this tire would be 265mm * 75% = 198.75mm. And 15 is the diameter of the rim.

Don't forget that "R" means radial. I believe Discount or Tire Rack has a "Tire Dictionary", but I couldn't find it.

also make sure you have the right ply 10ply for the hd, 6ply for 1500 and normal driving
