engine swap.
my friend has a 2000 eclipse. he spun a bearing and was wondering if he could put a 4g63T in his car? and what would need to be done to accomplish this?

they really did change almost everything between 2000 and 1999 I can't really see it working. Obviously if there is enough room in the engine bay (which there obviously is) it can be done, but efficiently is another story they really are two completely different cars. I don't know any specifics but I do know you have a long and arduous task if you are going to attempt it. Good luck

He can, but he'll need some deep as hell pockets. The basis of the engines are COMPLETELY different, and the swap would not be worth it, plus he'd need the tranny, wiring, and ALL the miscellaneous stuff to go with it. Not to mention all the custom fabrication for the mount points.
So in reality.....No.

This should be in the 2000+ eclipse. I doubt that motor will just drop in. Its just not worth the trouble IMO.

I was looking at a 2000+ eclipse the other day and the motor is backwards compared to the 4G63 that is in our cars. If he is dead set on putting a 4G63 in there he might be better off trying to get one from an EVO. Even still I am sure that there are a ton of major differances so it would cost a whole lot of money to do it.
