Cool WIP - 1998 Renaissance Nissan R390 GT1 #33 JOMO (10th Lemans)

here is my first WIP that I'm gonna be keeping you guys posted on this model. this model has alot of fun stuff, with open doors and removable bonnet

so far I've done quite abit since getting the model, The resin body needed some work and the Rear Bonnet needed alot as the mold of it was way off (as you can se its alot better )

Decal:

the Livery:

Body:

Interior: (this was one-piece but I snapped it into two to make it easy to work with and install when completed)

Engine (which will be heavily detailed):

I've already done the seat working on the seatbelts now. ( I used Flat Black, and Carbon Kevlar)

next I'm working on the doors, the kit had the option of having the doors open or closed (but I saw on another WIP, The Lancia Stratos). I used a piece of wire to have the door actually swing out, I'm still trying to fit it so its flush with the body and opens with ease,

Old:

New:

Fitted to car:

Enjoy

Good choice there! I loved the R390, too bad it didn't get more cred when it was around. Renaissance has good resin to work with.

Not to be "that guy", but upload your photos to Photobucket.com. It is free and then you link to the pics and put them in your post. You will have larger pictures and probably more responses because people wont have to load each of your photos.

Good luck, and keep the updates coming.

I'll change it then, because Imageshake has other options, I'll just post directly on site

Looking forward to seeing this finished. The JOMO livery was very different.

just got a package today from Renaissance.

they gave me a new decal sheet and extra resin pieces for the R390.

the previos decal sheet had some damage for some of the decals. also I was missing a Air Intake for the rear and they gave me three intakes along with the exausts, and everything else on the sprue except the Dashboard.

I'm hoping to be getting my photo-etch saws from China soon

my Seat is now finished. I used Tamiya's seatbelt cloth that was the only thing I could find, but it worked quite nicely, but cutting the pieces that small got very annoying. (I will cut the seatbelts that are hanging down under the seat, they will be mounted to the firewall)

compared the seat to a 10 cent Dime (just to show how small it is)

no a digital Camera, but not a great one. I should retake some of the pics, but its very hard to keep a hand still (I don't have a tri-pod) and with such a small piece to zoom. I'll retake some to try and get a cleaner pictures

If you don't have a tripod, try resting the camera on something solid like a box or a book. Also find the best focal length for the camera and make sure you have plenty of light.

here is the rear bonnet all primed up and fitted (finally, took me long enough having to bend it to shape and fill in the areas)

This a 43rd scale? Cause the gaps look huge from your pics. Seat is looking very good indeed!

yeah its 1/43, there is alittle gap still there but the camera really exposes it

I guess I could try and enclose the gap alittle more to try and fit it in snug

Re: WIP - 1998 Renaissance Nissan R390 GT1 #33 JOMO (10th Lemans) : beware large pics

been awhile for an update, been workin and not having a whole lot of time to just sit down and work on the car, but its slowly coming together.

I had some trouble with the Scale Motorsport Carbon fiber, but some of the areas you won't even see when completed.

I used some Cigarette foil as heat deflecters

Dashboard

Still trying to fit the rear bonnet to the car

some PE body details, air vents

I noticed on pics of the car, that there was a piece of the roll cage that was not molded, so I just took some solder wire and fixed that up

I think I'm gonna start on the wheels soon opcorn:

enjoy and please comment

Re: WIP - 1998 Renaissance Nissan R390 GT1 #33 JOMO (10th Lemans) : beware large pics

well even though no one is commenting I guess I will keep continuing it in case people are just following it

well I almost finished the tires, just got to put the bolts in

Dash all completed except for the steering wheel

Interior

renaissance made such a super kit, but did not have any decals for the switches, they left the whole spot blank, so I just used some wires to touch it up, ain't the bet but its alot better than being plain, I will touch it up more and take a good final pics of the interior

Enjoy

Re: WIP - 1998 Renaissance Nissan R390 GT1 #33 JOMO (10th Lemans) : beware large pics

Hello Spike,

Nice job on this 1/43 scale model !
working on 1/43 models isn't easy...
one more effort on your pics and you will get success here

what did you use to make the switches on the console ?
(hollow tubes ??)
one personal suggestion: try to heat and stretch plastic sprue, you will get a fine piece to cut and glue in egal parts maybe more easyly than with a hollow tube (which seems to me to be electric wire, is it ?)

keep up updating, we're folloing that !
