For the longest time the cars been running great but lately shifting out of second gear the idle jumps. Let me explain, Im driving and I almost wot, as it shifts from 2nd to third it almost sits in neutral, lets the rpms jump some then shifts to third. This occurs in a matter of seconds but its bugging the crap out of me.
And it mostely occurs when its been driving alot....warmed up. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Some interesting tranny issue.....
Is it the 91 Camaro you're talking about? 700R4? Rebuild the valve body and 2/4 servo with a "shift correction" kit. It should slam 2nd after that.
Edit: Oops, my mistake. I thought you said 1-2 shift. I'd guess your 3-4 clutch is on it's way out, sorry. |

Is it more then likely something other than the vacuum modulator, because all the other shifts are sweet and smooth. Well this kinda sucks because with the gears, 2nd to 3rd is the brunt of torque.

Re: Some interesting tranny issue.....
just sounds like the tranny is getting hotter than it likes...(not uncommon for hard WOT driving). mine did the same when i had the V6. I'd add a tranny oil cooler.. the B&M model is only around $40. route it thru your radiator (it comes with instructions) and I would also add some B&M Trickshift... it does work, well. doesnt sound like your tranny is in bad enough shape to warrant taking it apart, or a rebuild. a tranny oil cooler is a good idea anyway.

yes ur tranny is already plugged into the radiator. u can run the tranny lines thru the radiator, thru the tranny cooler, or thru both. (see install instructions when u get it).
