Thumbs up You guys are going to love the Revell Civics...

I was at the Toledo NNL model car show this weekend, and Revell had the Civic Si and Hatchback on display. They showed the built boxart models and test shots of the kits, they approved the tooling on Friday so they'll be available in December or January.

They are incredible kits! Two body variations for each, basically stock and custom bumpers/ground effects. The Si comes w/oversized stock rims and two sets of custom rims. The Hatchback shares the custom rims, and has its own set of 5 spoke rims. The Si engine is stock, the hatchback engine has a setup like the Integra kit, with what looks like a cold air intake and a big conical K&N filter. Both kits will have two sets of taillights as well, stock and Altezza style.

Rumors were going around that they are likely doing the Focus SVT and 2003 Mustang Mach I next year, and perhaps a Subaru WRX as well. We shall see when the toy fair happens in January or February. I for one would love a full-detail Scooby with engine, intercooler, and tuner parts. They are also looking at resurrecting the old Corrado kit, I really pushed myself on that one, they know where the tooling is and have looked at it and they do want to make it available again. Apparently the tool is a very expensive one, using proprietary machinery from the company that Revell AG used to contract that model, and that's why the kit's always been expensive and hard to find. I believe they want it in their Tuners lineup, and if they can find a solution to the expense of modifying the tooling to run on more common injection-molding machinery, we could see that kit next year as well. Corrado's were $35 kits over 10 years ago, the last one I saw on eBay went for something like $263 to a Corrado nut.

I'll post pics when I have time, I took a bunch of pics this weekend at the show and at the Packard museum in Dayton on the way home.

I also mentioned this forum to a number of people there, including a couple of Revell employees and a couple of the current editorial staff (Pat Mulligan and Andy Lillienthal) from Scale Auto magazine. Andy had a really cool new Fujimi Civic Type R on display.

questions- are the Revell Civics going to be as cheap and available as the Revell Acura ITRs? And will wal-mart have them?

wish someone would make the latest generation civic coupe tho... ill pick up a couple SI's for fun (when i actually find the time to make them). im really interested to see how they come out. The integra is ok but a bit boxy. Hope they capture the respective cars well and i hope they've devised a better way to attach wheels.

You should of knocked em off, sold em on ebay, made millions
Or made resin casts of them, and sold millions of them, beat revell to it...

I can't wait till they come out, I might do the full works on one, like I did on the ITR.

I'm thinking that they'll be ready available anywhere they're sold after the sh**load of money they made and are still are making off of the ITRs A buddy of mine and myself have already pre-ordered a case of Coupes to split! I hope they read the criticizms about the Integra and fixed them for the tooling of the Civics!

Cool Okay, okay...here are the pics of the REAL models!

Here are pics of the test shots and the boxart models. Don't drool too much on the screen or the keyboard! These kits are going to sell like mad...

The following are pics of test shots, the kits will NOT be molded in these colors. The Revell engineer at the table told me they just signed off on the tooling this past Friday, and the kits will be made in China, shipped to the US for finished packaging. Look for them around Christmas or in January.

I agree, they do have a much smaller spoiler which looks like a stock ITR spoiler for it. Basically it can be built w/o a spoiler, w/the ITR spoiler, or "the beast". Same w/the hatchback. Lots of possibilities, and lots of opportunities for other aftermarket body kits as well, since the bumpers/side skirts are separate pieces. These look very much like models that were designed by modelers, same as w/the ITR which was a pleasure to build. The custom rims will be chrome plated and shared by both kits. Headlight and taillight bezels will be chrome as well.
