Is quad exhaust for E36 possible?

Im going to be buying an E36 328i sedan soon and I want to do some subtle adjustments to make it stand out (Motorsport wheels, drop the body a bit, etc.). I really like the looks of quad exhaust tips, but I've seen the underbody of E36's and the fuel tank is in the way. Since the exhaust setup exits on the drivers side, is it possible to modify it to have a secondary route to exit by adding tubes before the catalytic converter going around the fuel tank? I dont know how difficult this would be but this is what I want the end result to look like:

I could just put tips there for looks, but I really want a FUNCTIONAL quad exhaust. Adding them for looks only seems too ricey for me, and I dont want to have a rice look at all.

A custom quad exhaust on a car that normally doesn't have one would be ricey...IMHO

I think you could probably get it done for a very heft price with some custom work, but I would think you'd be better off going for one of the many aftermarket units on the market as is. The sound and look will set you apart from stockers.

Yeah I kind of think it would be ricey too (only if its subtle), but as long as I dont have a 6 foot tall spoiler and a bodykit with foglights in it, Im good.

Yeah this is the general response Im getting at the delearship as well (I work at a BMW dealer). Well I havent limited myself to rice-like mods. I could go subtle and be safe with shadow trim, Alpina wheels, and lowered body. But as cool as it is, its the norm for BMW modifing pretty much in N.A. So if anyone can think mods that dont look ricey, but arent exactly "the norm" please suggest them. Maybe adding side vents from and E46 M3 or E60 M5. But that could too look ricey.

Anything is possible with enough time, money, and fabrication.

Having said that, the quad exhaust BMW's are tuned that way from the factory. Putting such a thing on an E36 intended for a single-side/dual-pipe setup sounds like a good way to add weight - and hopefully not lose horsepower due to the backpressure change. Routing it around the diff and spare tire well without too many sharp bends would be an interesting project to say the least. But it would be unique, so I say... find your nearest custom exhaust place and see what they think.

I would keep with the lines already on the car, keep from adding and vents or crap like that. I would go with what has been done, just some nice wheels and have it properly lowered.

Also, I was bored in class today, started doodling, and came up with an easy way to do a dual exhaust on a non dual car, but it might cause problems for the rear valiance, and wouldn't be exactly cheap.
