why doesnt my 02 2500HD have a trans temp gauge

I just bought a 2002 Silverado 2500HD LS edition and it doesnt have the trans temp. I t looks like it has that stupid idiot light. I want to change out the boring looking stock cluster for something with more eye candy but cant seem to find what I want. DO they make a platnium face with red of blue needles with polished or chrome trim? I NEED PICS

Re: why doesnt my 02 2500HD have a trans temp gauge

im already looking for a new cluster but I still would like to know why my HD doesnt have the gauge. Which trucks got the gauge? And another thing, why dont all the 99-02 trucks have the full DRL? I never have to mess with the switch on my truck at all. I see some trucks with just the lower lights on and no taillights. What gives here?

I always thought the HD's included a tranny temp gauge. Guess not.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "full DRL". The drl's are just the small lights in the front. The taillights do not come on, never have even on the old body styles. The '99-'06 drls were all the same.

Re: why doesnt my 02 2500HD have a trans temp gauge

well my trucks full lights come on as soon as the truck is started. I NEVER have to touch the switch at all no matter what time of day it is. My headlamps and tailamps come on automatically. The lamps in the front under the headlights never come on.
I can override the switch by pushing the override button 4 times.

Re: why doesnt my 02 2500HD have a trans temp gauge

There is a light sensor in the center of the dash close to the windshield that relays info to the light system as to wheather or not to turn the headlights on depending on the outside light level. If there is something on the dash covering this sensor up or it is dirty it will sense it is dark outside and turn your headlights on, thus no DRL lights. The sensor is about the size of a pencil eraser but is a smoked glass looking device. Make sure this sensor is unobstructed and clean. My duramax has a trans. temp gauge and all I've seen have the gauge.
