Day Running Lights

I had a question.

I was wondering what the name of the control (fuse or relay ) for the day running lights are on the 1999 Pontiac Grand AM SE. I

They seem to have stopped working. the head lights/interior/fog lights work fine.

THanks in advance.

Re: Day Running Lights

On the dash, if they were lit you would know
It would be dinging and dinging...

also if you have a highbeam headlamp out the DRLs wont work.

Re: Day Running Lights

if your drls didnt work there would be a light on the dash that says "service vehicle soon" (SVS) its on the right side, near the top. You will see it when you first start the car and all the lights flash. Then after they go out, see if its still on. If it is then check to see if you have a high beam bulb out. If the SVS lamp isnt on, then are you sure they arent working? There are different times when they wont be on. They are only on if your car is in gear, they turn off when the park brake is applied. They turn off when the automotic lamps turn on, or the headlight switch is turned on.

the immediate ding is the seat belt, it would probly do it again , as justin0717 said, when you put it in gear during the day.

Re: Day Running Lights

My experience with my '99 GA SE was that the dash warning lights were kind of buggy. I never got the service light when my headlights burnt out. I also never got the battery light either time my alternator died. I would get the washer fluid light, check engine light, tire pressure light, and low fuel light to warn me of other problems as they arose, though. And I know all of the dash lights lit because I could see them during the test that ran just after the car started. The other potential problem with DRLs is that they are not engaging due to a faulty switch at the shifter or the parking brake. To get the DRLs to engage after the engine has been started, the car must be in gear with the parking brake released. If something has gone wrong there, you probably would not have DRLs, nor would you have any warning lights.

Re: Day Running Lights

for some reason it stopped working...I checked the High Beams they are okay...I didnt think I would be able to tell...another thing I noticed...i dont know if it is on the same relay/fuse/control..

The low gas indicator ding did not come on today...the ETS button doesn't light up on the dash. or the cruise control light doesnt engage.
