ecu capacitors

hello everyone. i was looking over ebay and i notivced that there is ecu capacitors for my car ( i drive a 1991 3000gt vr-4, 134k miles ) and i was wandering if this would be any good. i know that ebay sells alot of cheap stuff, but i heard sometimes it doesnt really matter. my question is should i get these capacitors or should i get the real thing.

p.s. i heard the capacitors is what causes my idol to mess up sometimes. every so often my car will idol at around 600 rpms or just turn off, and sometimes it will idol at 2000 rpms, but most times its normal at around 900-1000. any help would be appreciated

heres the link for the capacitors:

Re: ecu capacitors

Your screwy idle is most likely the cause of a faulty IAC.

Re: ecu capacitors

iac is idle air control right? im not sure if thats a big problem to fix, if it is expensive, hopefully cheap.

so i guess i dont need the capacitors.

what do the capacitors do? what happens when they go bad?

Re: ecu capacitors

i've heard that if a smell like fish sticks comes through your vents it can mean that your a capacitor in your ecu could be melting, which would mean very bad news for your ecu and worse news for your wallet (new ecus aren't cheap). im not positive on what preventative maintenance helps to stop this or if its even a good idea to change the capacitors prematurely though.

Re: ecu capacitors

Try cleaning the IAC first, sometimes it just gets dirty. It's a common problem. If it's the the ECU, and easy way to check it to open up the ECU and look around the base of the caps. If they have leaked then they will have discolored the PCB around them. Some of them also bloat and burst. You will know if they have leaked by looking at the ECU. If not take a pic and post it up and we can tell you if they've leaked.

the real question is how much of a markup is the "factory list price" from the price of cost ???

I put 20% but i ment 25% anyways I would get my ass ripped if i say dealer cost.. but the cost is much higher then the after market ones..

Re: ecu capacitors

the links i listed aren't aftermarket IACs, they are OEM IACs direct from the company that makes them for Mitsubishi.
