Key won't turn.

I sat in WalMart parking lot the other day for about 20 minutes trying to get the ignition to turn. One of these days I am not going to be able to start my car at all. I was thinking about replacing the ignition switch, but how hard is it to do? It is a 93 Crown Vic. With the keys not in the ignition, the "door ding" occurs, put the keys in the ignition and the ding stops. The original key doesn't work anymore, but the copy works OK, except for the rare occassion that it won't turn at all.

Auto Zone sells a replacement lock for around $8-12, I replaced the one in my wifes pick-up in about 20 minutes. It means having to carry another key, or, you can get the new lock re-keyed for a small fee (take it to the locksmith's shop before you make the change). There's another thread on here with the part # and actual prices. Posted about a month to 6 weeks ago,,, good luck, don't sweat it, it's really an easy fix
