Re: help! pops when turned
Make sure the shafts are seated into the transmission.
If not, you'll be able to pull them out by hand. Pull and see. If they're ok you need to check your ball joints and tie rod ends, somethings loose. Jack up the car and see if you can wiggle the wheel, look for play. Also spin the tire and feel for roughness or noise, you could have a bad wheel bearing. They'll do that. That would be my first guess.

Re: help! pops when turned
You're welcome.
The front wheel bearing is "pressed in" on the 98 Civic. If you need one, you'll have to dismantle everything and take the yoke with the bearing in it to a machine shop and have them replace it. I did that last yr to my 98' and I think it was about $80.00 total for labor and bearing for one side. If you need one side, the other is probably close to needing replacement too. This is a common thing. You may need a puller to seperate the lower control arm ball joint, AutoZone rents them out for free. Good luck!

i check all the ball joints tirods and wheel barings they all seem to be fine i called a mechanic he told me that the axle may not be all the way in i checked them and they where all the way in so i took them back and got a better set and it does the samething its hard to turn and it still pops it feels like the axles are binding up when i turn

Re: help! pops when turned
You got me, I would have thought it to be one of the things mentioned.
I guess it's possible there's something wrong in the transmission. You need to have it checked out, that's for sure.

Re: help! pops when turned
The tranny wouldn't have anything to do w/ it poping when you turn left or right.
= your new CV joints |

Re: help! pops when turned
I disagree, the tranny very well could do that, especially a bad bearing
or gear n the differential part where it's straining to turn one shaft a lot faster than the other.

Re: help! pops when turned
it is the tranny its the diferintial i took it to the best tans shop in town and the looked it over and told me thats what it was so i got under the car and you can move the axles up and down and side to side while they are still in the trans and that is not good
