Airbag

My airbag light came on and is flashing a 16 code. Anybody know what that means?

Re: Airbag

Lamp code 16 - Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS) Circuit Fault

NOTE: To identify between a production OCS system and a service OCS system (OCS service kit) inspect the OCS ECU electrical connector. A production OCS system allows the disconnect of the electrical connector from the OCS ECU. A service OCS system (OCS service kit) has the OCS ECU electrical connector glued to the ECU, it cannot and should not be disconnected or altered.
NOTE: Most faults are due to connector and/or wiring concerns. Carry out a thorough Inspection and Verification before proceeding with the Pinpoint Test.........................

The OCS sensor is located under the passenger seat. Ford has released a repair kit that involves replacing the sensor, the lower seat foam, and sensor pad.

Looks like this will have to go to the dealer my friend.

Re: Airbag

I finally took my Windstar in to the dealership for the repair. I was ready for a $700 - $800 hit. They quoted me $1500.00. Absolutely ridiculous as far as I'm concerned. Decided not to get it fixed. They charged me $150.00 just to tell me what I already learned from this forum for free. It's like Ford is discouraging safe vehicles by charging such an amount. Surely they could make a sensor in a seat a much simpler way so that it would be a cheaper fix. But then I guess that wouldn't be "good business." Sorry, just had to rant a bit.
