Burning coolant... how long does it take to burn out all of it?

I was installing a spacer for my supercharger... should have bypass the coolant at the throttle body but never thought I needed to.

Anyway, some coolant did leak into the manifold and idle chokes (*but still runs) and it's burning white smoke out the back.

I have stop the coolant leak, and was wondering how long it takes to burn out all the coolant, or do I have to take out the whole blower/manifold assembly and pour it all out.

Thanks.

it all depends how much got in... if it a lot you run the risk bending/breaking a connecting rod if it tried to compress the coolant... if its not that bad shuldnt take a half hour at the most to burn it all off... also the higher RPM the quicker it will burn.

Re: Burning coolant... how long does it take to burn out all of it?

Well, i noticed it never sucked more than what was in the reserve tank. I refilled it up to max, it drop to min... i refill it back to max and it drop to min so I stop the car.

So i assume that's how much it went in... but the car was running as the coolant drop. I assume it was burning as it was going into the manifold... white smoke was coming out and idle was rough.

If the car still starts and idle... I assume the vaccum pressure is enough to pull all the coolant out of it and burn it all out in about an hour at idle?

sure, if you are questioning the amount of coolant... pull your plugs and crank the engine over, then if there is an excess of coolant it will spray out the top.

Re: Burning coolant... how long does it take to burn out all of it?

I isolated the coolant leak problem, so i can confirm there is 100% no coolant leaking into the intake manifold anymore.

I started up the car, I preset the idle to 950rpm, but it could only do 500rpm. I rev the car after I purged the radiator and topped it off... goes up to about 2000rpm and it struggles to climb anymore... big white cloud of smoke out the exhaust. Let the gas off and it stalls.

I guess i'm burning it off.... what seems to be the problem? too much coolant?

That's assuming it's in the engine correct? but if the coolant is in the manifold would it still vaccum it into the engine and then get shot out?

Correct.. you may have to pull the manifold and manually drain it if there is too much
