Glove box removal
Does anyone have experience removing the glove box door from a 2000 century?
Thanks in advance |

Re: Glove box removal
Welcome to AF.
Are you referring to the outer panel or the whole glovebox assembly? To remove glovebox: Remove the kickpanel. From underneath you should see about 4-5 small screws that secure the hinge to the dash frame. Once those are removed you can remove the glovebox. Also, take care with the lanyard retainer and remove one end it at the stud.

It appears that a portion of the hinge is detached from the frame. Was wondering how to access the hinge. I appreciate the info. |

Re: Glove box removal
Actually there are two parts to the hinge. The part that screws onto the dash frame and the segment to the glove box. A common problem is the screws get loose and drop out or the plastic part (stud) glovebox side where the screws go break off. Either way the best thing to do is remove the complete glovebox assembly to do a further checkout. Unless you do that you will not be able to get to the inner hinge screws.

Re: Glove box removal
Got the glovebox out OK. Found that the hinge is secured to the glove box by plastic pillars that the screws are attached to. Seems the pillars are 2/3 broken. Time for the JB weld & a glued repair. (I hope)
Thanks bnaylor your instructions were right on. |
