April Nor'easter

Ok who wants some snow?? That Nor'easter hit us pretty good last night into this morning dumping heavy wet snow over our area. We got around a foot of snow so far with more expected throughout the day. It snowed a little yesterday then mixed with rain, once the sun went down and it got cooler it switched to all snow. Heavy wet snow. There are scattered power outages and many fallen trees also around us. I took some pics about 6:30 this morning before taking my wife to work. Kids had a snow day, which they really didn't need seeing as they just had 10 days off for Spring Break. We hadn't had this much snow in one day since 1983, when I was a junior in high school, and the storm hit on the last day of April. We also had no school that day as the highway depts. had taken off all their plows and weren't ready.
This picture is looking out over my back deck:

Back yard:

Another part of back yard:

Snowing a little heavier:

I liked how th snow clung to everything:

Now some of the trees are starting to bend under the weight of the snow:

It isn't supposed to get warmer until next weekend. They are expecting more snow and rain throughout this week.

Edit: With this latest storm, our winter snowfall total is ever so close to 144" ( that's 12 feet.)

We got a couple inches of snow yesterday, then 5 inches of rain last night and today. Gotta love it.

Quote from wiki, " A nor'easter (also northeaster; see below) is a macro-scale storm whose winds come from the northeast, especially in the coastal areas of the Northeastern United States and Atlantic Canada. More specifically, it describes a low pressure area whose center of rotation is just off the coast and whose leading winds in the left forward quadrant rotate onto land from the northeast. The precipitation pattern is similar to other extratropical storms. They also can cause coastal flooding, coastal erosion and gale force winds."

Re: April Nor'easter

Actually it's like a "hurricane in the winter". If you get the chance , check out the satellite footage of this past storm and see how it resembles a hurricane, (albeit a small one). The barometric pressure got pretty low during this most recent storm, just like before a hurricane comes ashore. A nor'easter shares a lot of similarities with a hurricane, such as strengthening over the ocean, which this one did Sunday off the Jersey coast where a secondary low pressure system developed and the "exploded" sending waves of moisture- rain in NYC-snow in Syracuse westward. It was like one wave after another coming our way as the system churned away towards the northeastern corner of the country.

Basically...

And talking about Sportscenter...
If anyone is a NBA fan, we got the playoffs just around the corner.

Any predictions?

The Bulls, are getting past the 1st round this time around... The Nets can't stop them the way they're playing right now.

(Yes, I'm a Bulls fan)

Finals Prediction:
Mavericks vs. Pistons
-Mavericks win series 3-1
