Hello fellow 240sx lovers
Been a member for some time now but never posted since i didn't own a 240sx but after a long search i finally found a 95 240sx with manual transmission last friday. It's got 80.000 miles on it,and is in good condition. It was $8.500,but i got it down to $6.000,but i searched long so i probably wuld've agreed to more,My friends insisted on less though.
It's an awesome car(of course)but it's my first manual car so it took me a few hours to learn to drive it.As of right now i'm already pretty good at it,not raced it though.Anyway, here's my question.I'm not gonna do an engine swap,at least not any time soon, but i did go out to check out some parts for it in stores.I asked the guy at the store if i could install one of them universal intakes, and he said that the 240sx needs a special one because of some sensor in it.I went out of the store and poped the hood and there it was, right on the pipe.So my real question is.Can i just remove that sensor? If not what are my other options? Also,Some of the inside of the car got loose(The part with the radio and the stickboot in it),and i thought about replacing those parts.Where could i get some?Preferrably not stock but something better looking. Thanks for any info guys. |

Nice to see another 240SX in Florida...6k is not bad...I practically gave my car away at 6.5k w/quality mods and no problems w/it whatsoever...
I recommend that you get an Injen intake or fabricate a custom one and relocate your battery to the back if your hardcore...running the intake across the radiator is not the best method so running it down the left side (if you are facing the engine) down where the battery is happens to be a better method due to cold air actually getting up in there.... Dont go universal...it's cheap yes but quality and HP wise...you wont get the same as spending the $ And welcome to the NISSAN Family |

get a AEM they cost 173 at optionauto. and you can't remove that MAF sensor becuase the car would stall right out becuas eits not reading hte air flow.

Ok,so i can't remove it,but what do i do with it then?Does a new intake come with a built in sensor or do i have to place the old one on there somewhere?
Also.In a magazine i read that a cold air intake literally sucks water in when it's raining,is that true or should i just not worry about it? |

it will suck in water if its located near the ground (usually the front bumper near where the fog lights are or tire well, and that only happens if you go through a hugh puddle and the intake sucks in that water through the filter and up into the engine, but that will only happen if you hit a HUGE puddle, i have intake on my celica and i ran it through a 1 ft deap puddle at a incline by accident and it sucked a lil in but not much, and it only made steam come out of the exhaust but usually it just steams out the exhaust with no problems, didnt cause me any problems, but to cause problems you have to drive through huge ass amounts of water, AEM and other manufactures make a Bypass Valve that will eliminate that totally, so look into buying one of those.
also dont worry about rain, it wont suck in much water like that, if any.

Thanks for the reply, yeah i considered bypass valves but why spend $50+ on something i might not need?
Here's another question though.I'm used to really good sound from my home theatre system and my friends cars, and the stock speakers of my 240sx really suck, most of the people i know talk about amps and subs and all that kind of stuff, but do i really need all of that for clear and pretty loud sound? And where could i get some nice WHOLE package, and not piece by piece? |

ok for the bypass valve, ya it helps because god forbid you hit a huge ass puddle and that water goes into your engine then guess what, your warantee wont cover it and you need a new engine, but i dont have one on the celica. now audio stuff, i'm not a big on audio nore do i know alot about it, but i like to listen good techno when i'm racing and ya you need a decent system to do that, ya to get more bass and better quality sound you need better speakers and a bass amp, i recomend going to best buy and seeing what they have, also sony has a good set of audio products, but not speakers, i have a friend who is really into audio and he told me a few things:
1. Name brand is everything 2. make sure its a good set of equiptment 3. it wont be cheap (remember you pay for what you get) what my friend has is a 4 speaker system, with 2 tweaters, a 12' bass amp, and 1 amp. you might want to talk to any of your friends or people at local audio stores or visit car audio forums. hope i've helped
