Re: Rear light issues

bkcooper,

Did you ever find out what the problem was? I have exactly the same issue on my '99 windstar.
I think, it might be the REM.

Re: Rear light issues

No, I havent looked into it any farther..I went to the Ford dealership and that part (REM) is about $450...Unless you can take one out of a junk van...But all the forums I have looked at seem to suggest the REM...Let me know if you fix yours...Thought somebody would help us here...

Re: Rear light issues

Hey Guy's

I had the same problem on my 99, turns out that it was a Generic Electronic Module (GEM) located on the passangers side in the back behind an access panel. I got one out of a salvage yard for $50 if you get one from the Dealership they want about $450 and a program fee of about $150.

Re: Rear light issues

bkcooper,

Thanks for the replay. Now I'm convinced its the REM. My rear AC blower started acting up as well. Today my wife couldn't even start the van. From her description it might have been the fuel pump (also controlled by the REM)
The only thing these problems have in common is the REM.
My local Ford dealer wants $400 plus tax for this part. Didn't say anything about programing. I found it on the internet for $300. Didn't want to spend the $300 without a second opinion.
The junk salvage idea from 70Z22 is even better. I'll call around tomorrow.
Thanks for the help.

Re: Rear light issues

Maybe even check ebay.....I have noticed that some salvage yards list parts on there.
