Re: multi function switch
Sounds like a wiring issue. I'd check the wiring around the stalk.

Re: multi function switch
Did you replace the multifunction switch or the stalk? The electrical contacts for the wipers, washers, and intermittant delay are in the stalk. These contacts may be dirty or damaged.
What year is your Taurus? I disassembled and cleaned the stalk on my '93 SHO years ago and took pictures along the way and wrote up the steps I performed. If you'd like me to send the doc your way, private message me with an e-mail address for you that can accept attachments. -Rod |

Re: multi function switch
I had a similar problem with the wipers not working, then the turn signals quick working. The contacts were all pretty dirty, so I cleaned them up (spent about an hour doing so), then managed to get the whole thing back together. The turn signals worked, but then there was some other piece that didn't work (don't remember what it was now).
I ended up just buying a new multi-switch. I remember it being a little pricy, but everything worked then. My repair manual also said to disconnect the battery and then remove the ignition cylinder - so the airbag doesn't go off while working in the steering column. |
