Hard Shift from 1st to 2nd
I'm thinking about buying my sister's 95 SL2 automatic for my son's first car. The only thing wrong with it is a very hard shift from 1st to 2nd. The transmission was rebuilt about 15,000 miles ago. The car sits up in the garage, and is not being used. Mr brother -in-law drives it once a month around the block to keep the battery up.
Could the problem be due to not being driven much? Or, is this just wishful thinking? |

I'm not sure but if it is a 5 speed, you might have a bent shifting rod. Or there could be a problem with the tranny. But I would check the simple things first so you don't have to put alot of money into it, if it doesn't need it. I would also try bleeding the slave cylinder and I think there is a block somewhere on the firewall that you need to bleed also but I am not 100% sure on that. If not it could be your clutch. Hopefully this helps. |

Re: Hard Shift from 1st to 2nd
could be a few things. leak/binding in dog clutch, malfunctioning 2nd shift solenoid, leak/binding in 2nd/reverse clutch piston, or valve body components binding. also a loose input shaft nut or input shaft hub seals leaking.
