147 Gta

Keeping with Alfa's recent resurge comes the hot version of the Alfa 147, the GTA.

Alfa has raised the hot hatch benchmark with the 147 GTA, which delivers a staggering 250bhp (from a 3.2l V6) through the front wheels. The 147 gets uprated and lowered suspension, a more aggressive, wider body and bigger alloys (17"). Getting the 250bhp through the front wheels is helped by the presence of traction control.

All in all, the 147 GTA looks set to spank the Civic Type R, Clio Sport 172 and (hopefully!) the Focus RS...

It certainly is a very beautiful car, no surprise really, it IS an alfa

cheers,
jay

As you say, it IS an Alfa ! Very nice.
This new Alfa is (I thing) the more powerfull (except the Clio V6... 255 hp !), even more than an Audi S3 Quattro 225hp that I see every day here !!! Hope the GTA will be sold as much !

My only concern is the front-wheel-drive. Can you imagine if it had been 4WD like an Integrale or S3? It would killed anything else on the road! Still, i havent seen it in action or read any road tests so i cant comment yet!

Yes, but will the R32 be like the V6 4Motion or actually a true driver's car? Im not so confident given what Golfs are becoming

I read an auto-try in the "Auto-Journal" about the Golf 4R32 : they say that it's powerfull and not very comfortable, more sportly. Although, I thing the Alfa would be more sportly, mainly with the fabulous motors they do (nice song.... hummm !).

Indeed! If the 2.5 V6 24v sounds so beautiful and rorty, the 3.2 will be a symphony! Nothing like an Italian exhaust note

I just read a 147 GTA vs Focus RS test and the 147 wins overall. Phew.. More importantly the car is praised for its performance, entertaining handling, good brakes, and even comfort! Alright Alfa! Looking forward to seeing these bad boys on the road!
