Need Spring Replacement without lowering vehicle.
 Ok Guys, need your advise on replacement rear springs. Just changed my wheel setup to 17" rims with 215/45-17 tires. Not sure what the offset is, either 38 or 42, doesn't really matter now since I can't change that. My original rear stock springs are worn out and I'm experiencing a little rubbing on the fender lip when I hit a bump. My mechanic told me to replace it with heavy duty springs, same stock height, with more stiffness but I don't exactly know what to get. In addition, since we're already in the process, I'll also replace the original rear struts. Any idea what brand springs and struts out there in the market that's suitable for my vehicle. I drive a '91 Honda Accord SE. I don't want to end up with a real stiff ride, still close to stock ride, just limited bounce to prevent the rubbing/scraping especially when fully loaded. I can't lower the vehicle, I don't want to drive a snow plow during winter. So any of you guys lucky enough living in a sunny State...don't rub it.:silly2:

hey sick, im not too sure about the innerworkings of suspensions, but you might just need new struts. if a bump causes your shocks to compress completely, making your tires rub, than your struts might be blown. you must have a wider offset, cause i never had problems with rubbing when i was stock height. and my struts were blown to hell. hopefully new struts will work, cause ive never seen stock height shocks with a higher springrate.
but then again, maybe they just dont make any out here in the sunnystate

i have to agree with strodda. it does sounds like worn shock absorber.
i suggest KYB GR-2 shocks, they inexpensive and very decent quality shocks. their part is 341119 and you can get them at: 1. http://coximport.com/Merchant2/merch...ct_Code=341119 2. https://key.2coolweb.com/monarchprod...c/orderkyb.asp BTW, labor to install shocks is same as for springs.
