1992 Pontiac Bonneville 3.8 200,000miles. Car died while driving lost all power. Now car will not start. No crank at all. No electric at all. Turn key absolutely nothing. No headlights, no radio, no dome light nothing. I metered battery and it had a 12.3v reading. Verified all large fuses on fuse cabinet underneath hood. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 92 Pontiac Bonneville 3.8 no start, no crank, no electric
A dead battery can still show 12 volts.
Remove the battery cables & clean the cable ends with sandpaper or a wire brush. Some years had 2 cables that come together in a single rubber boot. If your car has that setup then you need to remove the rubber boot in order to clean where the 2 cables come together. Apply some dielectric grease to slow down future corrosion & reassemble. If you still have no power then try jumping the battery or remove the battery & have it tested at your local auto parts store. Let us know what you find. |
