Malibu body style change

I have a 2001. I thought that the body style changed in 2004 to the new style. And yet I see malibus listed on ebay as 2005 that still look like my 2001. Did they continue the older body style at the same time as the new one? Is that what a Malibu "classic" is? We dont have those in NY, but I saw them all over Florida when I was there a couple of years ago.

Re: Malibu body style change

Yep, the "old style" ('97-'03) Malibu continued on for '04 and '05 as the "Chevrolet Classic". It was primarily a rental car, although a few were actually sold by dealers. It was 4-cylinder only.

Get ready for it to happen again, soon. The Malibu will be all-new for '08 (sedan-only, Maxx dies), but the current sedan body style will continue on as the "Malibu Classic" for another 2 years. Again, primarily a rental car, but some will be available for dealer sale. This time, it'll be V-6 only (3.5L engine).
