Just found this on ACritics
...and it's one of the COOLEST car pictures I've seen in a LONG time...the ultra-mega-hella rare Detomaso Deauville poking it's nose out of a barn...just excites me!
![]() I gave it a 10...I think if half the people on the site actually knew what it is, one of 244 ultra-expensive ultra-powerful ultra-luxurious Detomaso instead of the 80's econobox they think it all is it wouldn't have the 3.6 average.....

Bah, I'm getting pissed off at Critics
![]() I swear 98% of the people that go there are morons...they rate a one of 24 2.1 liter Turbo 600+ hp AWD Ford RS200 Evolution as a 3.7, but every riced out 125 hp Civic has an 8....

One man's solitary bowl of rice is another man's banquet.
It's the same with a lot of things - Heep that's why some people are connoissuers and most aren't. You have an appreciation of the artisans' work at deTomaso and its engineering while the others would prefer to salivate at a customised mass-production vehicle as the last word in individuality. No-one's right just different. Incidentally, connoisseur is defined as an expert judge in matters of taste and this comes from the old french word of 'to know.' I prefer to drink highland single malt scotch and handcrafted red wine, it doesn't make me better than a bourbon drinker or even someone who drinks Bacardi Breezers. I have an appreciation of the craft which contributes to my enjoyment - but to I get annoyed at folk who seem to use a love of something as a form of intellectual snobbery. We all have opinions and belief sets and this is part of what makes us humans - celebrate humanity you have a right to be different! And by the way Kris I can see your point of view too (though it's going to be hard not to think of you as kb...

Sorry Moppie that would be me.
Half my face is numb from the dentist's anaesthetic (I had the mother of all fillings today) so excuse me if I'm not myself but you should expect me to go for the intellectual high ground by now. |

All I can say is that AC actually does piss me off- I see crap cars like Pug 3O6's Ford Escorts and Alfa Romeo 33's made even crappier getting 7's- but god-dammit- there are some nice cars that are being written off as crap

Irony is beyond me today.
FYI - The hole was the size of the bit you press down in a bic ballpoint pen to engage it. And about as deep as same bit when it sticks out when the nib is not engaged. The procedure involved drilling out the old failed amalgam filling (which didn't fix or stop the decay the first time around), identifying the decayed material with a dye-based caries detector, removing all of the decayed material, applying a dental dam to prevent the work area getting wet or contaminated, applying material to fix a crack in the base of the tooth, placing some material to kill any further decay and bond with the dentine, then using a composite material which was hardened by UV light to fill the rest of the hole and finally using the drill again to contour the filling to the original chewing surface of the tooth. It took about 90 minutes and two local anaesthetic injections - and I've been reading about Bali today so my humor detection abilities are poked. So no it was not fun - I'm wondering if the tooth will last. And I discovered my dentist of 16 years (and father of two) died suddenly a couple of weeks ago. You'll have to excuse the humor bypass today. |
