What part of DC, and what is your friend hoping to find? I know the area fairly well and there are a few of decent shops- but all are in the suburbs surrounding DC, accessible from the 'Beltway' circular highway that surrounds DC. All would definately take a car to get to.

In fact,my father came to US last week. And now in DC.Tomorrow he will go to Vages.I asked him to buy two TAMIYA'S models about Chrokee and Pajero.

I will connect with my father this eveing. And then I can know where he lives in Vages.

If by LA you mean L.A. then you can try House of Hobbies in burbank, just off the 5 freeway, exit Alameda. They have a big variety of supplies. HobbyPeople in Pasadena is pretty big too, but not when it comes to supplies. They have a few locations in southern california. The one on pasadena is off the 210 freeway, exit Hill Street. Pegasus Hobbies in Montclair is outside L.A. county but it's the biggest hobby shop that I know of. They have the biggest supply of models kits that I know of, tons of R/C car, boat, plans, and submarines. They also have an outdoor off road R/C track out in the back of the store. They got tons of stuff but, in my opinion, you can get better deals from small hobby shops rathen then these types of big stores. I only drive out to them when I'm looking for something hard to find (discontinued and/or popular kits, tools, etc.) I usually find it there but any other times I'd rather give my business to small hobby shops like House of Hobbies.

While in LA, he may consider visiting Tamiya's headquarters in Aliso Viejo, about an hours drive from downtown LA. I believe they used to have some of their products on sale to the public two times a week. I'm not sure if they still do. Anyways, it's good to see their showroom. Give them a call.
