85 J2000 / 94 Sunbird swap

Hey guys, I have an 85 J2000 (Sunbird) with a siezed engine and I was just wondering if an engine out of a 94 Sunbird would be a direct bolt in? Thanks in advance, Deven.

It should be a direct bolt in...the only real change in the 1st and second gens were the body and the dashboard...

Re: 85 J2000 / 94 Sunbird swap

Wll I am going from throttle body to fuel injected, so I guess that would mean I have to take all of the computers and stuff out right? This is just for a demolition derby car so anything that I do not need in order for it to run can be forgot about. Thanks, Deven

Re: 85 J2000 / 94 Sunbird swap

Alright thanks a lot guy, i'm going to run my 94 Sunbird through the demo derby first and then swap the engines once i'm done. Hopefully the tranny lines up I have another question that I dont know if anyon can answer here or not...do Toyota Tercels have fuel pumps? I'm talking an 89 Tercel hatchback. I guess the best would just to jump over to te "Toyota" section lol. Thanks, Deven

Re: 85 J2000 / 94 Sunbird swap

Tranny should bolt up fine...the 1.8 and 2.0 are the same engine, just the cylinders have been punched out a bit...
