Problem with 88 Civic
Hi! I have an 88 Honda Civic HB DX 1.5L 5speed. It wasn't running and we replaced the main relay. It starts and runs now but not great. I am getting a code 16 (off the led light on the computer) I'm wondering what the code is and also, if it could have something to do with the relay we put in. It came off of a 91 4 door and has a different part number on it but it hooked up. Any suggestions

Re: Problem with 88 Civic
could be that 88-89 and 90-91 have different wiring in most cases. Im not sure about the wiring to the main relay though. Code 16 is fuel injectors. You could try resetting the ecu by removing the hazard fuse in the underhood fuse panel for about 10 secs and see if that code could have just been an old one. If it returns then its time to start diagnosing.

Re: Problem with 88 Civic
the relay that u took off usually has the circuit number it controls....the numbers should match.....

Re: Problem with 88 Civic
Fuel injector issues don't come from the main relay... that would be fuel pump only... the injectors are powered directly from the ECU.. Which means that code 16 is either just there b/c the ECU was acting up, and should be reset, or he actually has an injector issue...
Just my (non-professional) opinion. Please feel free to call me on it if I'm wrong... b/c I hate giving the wrong info. |
