Trans trouble

Will today I noticed the trans acting up thought it was the fuel pump. BUt the speedo reading is what tipped me off.. My problem is trans pulls strong but it acts as if its not getting fuel. So I do know its not the TRS because I unpluged and it ran the same.. But would the VSS cause this problem..Or do I have to do a rebuild. I hope not.. My lovley wife just left me back in Febuary and got the brand new Freestar. So I dont need a tranny payment right now.. Any help would greatly be helpful. Gary.. 3 yrs of Marriage is worth 15 grand so the lawyer said.

Re: Trans trouble

Gary, does the speedo indication jump all over on you? If so the VSS will confuse the heck out of that AX4N. Sorry about the personal stuff. Hopefully she takes the $15K, the Freestar, drives away and never comes back!

Re: Trans trouble

A TRS will also cause major tranny confusion.

Give us a little more info on the symptoms. Is it sluggist shifting? Have you seen much debris in the pan ... especially shiney metal flakes?

Re: Trans trouble

Thanks For the replies It was the coil pack.. I just got done.. It runs fine ,the CEL came on but I got a 181 which is a false code i reset it. But the problem was the coil pack.. So I must have been going 70 mph I was just so mad it was acting up.. I thought the speedo was wrong..So here was the problem..Runs and idles fine. But when you hit the gas it almost acts like its not getting fuel. But I assumed it was the tranny because when I let the hammer down on the gas it took off like rocket so I thought the tranny sensor must of been the problem. I just did not think I was running that fast it was a 45 mph zone.. Must of been caught up in the problem..Just got off at 3 pm now must sleep to go in at 11 pm tonight.. Thanks again..

Re: Trans trouble

Yes.....these things can creep up in speed on you.....and they really take off when you hit the gas at 70.....
When they are running good.....they can be deceptive with how smooth they are at 70......just came back from a trip.....and 70 is the speed limit on the interstate in Indiana.
Can be expensive in a 45 zone though.

I am happy for you that it turned out to be a coil pack....
It is a lesson that I have had myself many times....something goes wrong..and the first thing that comes to our mind is something super expensive.....
Always pays to hope for...and to check for a logical, cheap and easy solution first though.
