Question 2002 GMC Wheel Lug Nuts/SAE or Metric Lug Wrench?

Shortly after purchasing new Sierra bought aftermarket lug wrench SAE and the 7/8 size seemed to fit perfectly...Well today i discovered the lug nuts are metric. Looking around the 'net there are 'universal' 4 way lug wrenches for both SAE and metric. My question is do i need to actually get a metric lug wrench or will the 7/8 SAE that i purchased work since it appears to fit into the "universal" category i have seen advertised. Thanks in advance......

Re: 2002 GMC Wheel Lug Nuts/SAE or Metric Lug Wrench?

There are 25.4 mm per inch. 7/8 of an inch is 22.225 mm. Therefore a 7/8 socket can be used on a 22 mm lugnut.

Some tool makers will actually stamp 7/8 and 22 mm on the same socket since it can be used on both.
