CBS Fires Don Imus
NBC fired him yesterday and today CBS does him a number. I guess when you are named one of the 25 Most Influential People in America by Time magazine you have to watch what you say, especially if it is perceived a racial epithet or slur.

Re: CBS Fires Don Imus
Imus said a stupid thing, but he always says stupid things. That's nothing new. The media shitstorm is worse than what he said, IMO. It's becoming tiresome as hell. It's turning into a contest to see who can be the most outraged.

Re: CBS Fires Don Imus
Don Imus is known for making racially insensitve and sexist remarks, the only difference here was that he made a comment that was both.
Reverand Jesse Jackson is alos really pissing me off. Despite Imus giving a big long apology the next day, Jackson keeps whining about how repetitive it was and insists that Imus does not deserve forgiveness. Yet, Jackson also made an anti-semitist comment back in 1984, one that he thinks he deserved forgiveness for. So basically, Jackson is saying that he deserves forgiveness for an insensitive remark he said, but that Imus does not. And now there's that little group that think we should bring up the question 'is there a double standard in America?'. Of course there is. If a black person makes remarks that are racist against white people, no one gives a damn. If a white person makes ONE racist remark about black people, he's all of the sudden a biggot with a twisted mind that everyone wants to hang.

It's not just racist, it's incredibly unprofessional and tasteless.

Re: CBS Fires Don Imus
CBS must've found another way to bring in the $20 million dollars they will lose by firing Imus. It must be a slow news week now with the fact we know who Anna Nicole Smith's baby's daddy is, so know the media will find something else to harp on. Add to that the Rev Al Sharpton and all of his commentary and you have the recipe for disaster. I wonder how all of this would've turned out if the media didn't make such a big deal out of it and Sharpton didn't keep bringing the matter up?
I don't know much about what shows are on satellite radio but that may Imus' next move ( like Howard Stern.)

Everybody hear that? It's the giant vaginas flapping in the wind with the Rev. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson leading the pack.

Re: CBS Fires Don Imus
Hate to say it folks, but young black men refer to their women as "ho's" and "bitches" all the time. Where is the outrage there? Granted Imus says stupid things, but to excoriate him over this is just plain rediculous. Al and Jesse get a total pass. It's hipocritical at the least.
And the good news for Imus is he will make even more money on the lecture circuit and book deals now. |

Re: CBS Fires Don Imus
I literally called the Rutgers girls "some hood ass hoes" (cause they are) when I was talking about them with my roommate... but I wasn't broadcasting when I did it. Imus should be fired not for the fact that he called them nappy headed hoes but for being stupid enough to say it on the air and bring the crazy media hypefest to CBS's doorstep. I could care less if he thinks they are nappy headed or hoes, but you can't be stupid enough to say something like that on the air.

Re: CBS Fires Don Imus
Speaking of that hypocrite Al Sharpton has he given an apology for his conduct and incitement of that now defunct Duke rape case?
Could be coincidental but funny how all this agitation by Sharpton and Jackson was timed this week to coincide with the Duke case getting dropped considering Imus made his so called derogatory comment a week ago. Makes you wonder. ![]()

Re: CBS Fires Don Imus
Things like this drive me crazy.....
Is he allowed to say what he pleases? Of course he is.. Was it dumb for him to say something like this on the air? Of course it was.. Double standard? Of course it is... Blown WAY THE HELL OUT OF PROPORTION? Damn straight it was... I honestly could not believe some of the things I was reading in the papers and hearing on the news. He said something about a womens basketball team that he shouldn't have on air. Then all of a sudden everyone and their damn dog is offended. It has officially RUINED the great feeling they had from winning a national championship????? Are you kidding me?? If I had just accomplished something that great in my life I wouldn't care what some old ass radio host had to say about the way he sees me. I just can't understand how this seemed to "offend" sooo many different people with no direct ties to the basketball team itself. As someone pointed out earlier, maybe he had just been listening to too much rap/hip hop. I found this very similar to the whole Kramer fiasco. Everyone is coming out of the woodwork to say how offended they are and expecting an apology.

Rev. Jesse and Rev. Al better go back and read their bibles again, because it obviously didn't take the first few times they skimmed that text. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Rev. Jesse "hymietown" Jackson needs to shut the flop up. Rev. Al "Tawana Brawley and Duke rape case" Sharpton also needs to STFU. opcorn:

Re: CBS Fires Don Imus
Now th Rutgers girls are reportedly recieving 'death threats'.
Journalist Jason Whitlock commented this morning on the Today show something along the lines of:"I don't see how Don Imus would have the influence to make people threaten their lives. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are trying to victimize these girls, which takes us a step backwards from racial equality. This is the exact opposite of what someone like MLK would've wanted us to do. We are not victims." And keep in mind, he's a black guy. It's not a direct quote, Those are just the key points.

Re: CBS Fires Don Imus
Radio personality loses job for being a dickhead once too often. No surprise. Political activists jump on the bandwagon. Again, no surprises. A few select members on the forum choose to jump in and bag the political activists but remain curiously silent on the issue as to whether the racist deserved to be fired for his misuse of the airwaves. Sadly, there's no surprise there either.

I also don't think it's racist. If rappers can say nigger, bitch, ho, cracker, and other crap then we should too. Why? They want equal standards, they get it. The playing field is even and if you can't take it, then don't fucking dish it out.
