95 Talon-1st gen motor??

Ok, so ever since I got my car I have read and thought that they were a 2nd gen motor. I went down to O'reilly today to order in a TB gasket, and the guy said he wanted to check out my car because he owns a 92. We argued for about 30 minutes over whether it was 1g or 2g, I told him that the 1g cut-off was in 92...Am I wrong? My car was manufactured in May 95..

Go back and kick him in the nuts. Unless you have a 6 bolt swap, the cut off was most of 92, even some 92's got 7 bolts.

Haha, I wonder if he had a 7-bolt and thinks it's a 6. Would make sense when he kept saying that his motor was exactly the same..I think I will go make fun of him when I pick up parts tomorrow.

Actually the 1g cut-off was in 94. The 1g 6-bolt was in 92, but they still manufactured 1g's into 94. 95 was when they introduced the 2gs.

So technically, you were both wrong.

Re: 95 Talon-1st gen motor??

I guess it's all a matter of perspective. Usually, we simply designate the general body style change as a new "generation". Hence, 90-94 = 1G, 95-99 = 2G, etc, but talking about the motor in terms of generation can be confusing, especially if youre mixing it up with the body style. I would just stick to 6-bolt / 7-bolt terminology.

Re: 95 Talon-1st gen motor??

He was referring to the engine, saying that his 92 was the same one that is in mine. I just had to double check after disagreeing with him for so long.

Of course, he also said that he ran from the cops doing 185 the whole way. I asked him what size turbo he had on it, and his reply was "a big one".

After a response like that, I agree with Dustin, go back and give him a swift kick in the nuts, then spit on him and walk away.
