Help!!!

MY MK2 GTI STARTS BUT WHEN IT IS AT RUNNING TEMP IT MISFIRES AND CUTS OUT CAN ANYBODY SHED SOME LIGHT ON WHAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE?
