2003 envoy 6 cd changer "player error" message

My 2003 gmc envoy has a 6 cd changer in the dash (factory installed). It's fully loadedwith 6 cd's, all display messages work such as CD3 Track 10, or EJECT CD6. However, there is no movement going on inside the changer as you press any button, nothing ejects, and after about 5-10 seconds, the dispay reads "player error" and it switches to radio.

Hi,

My GMC Envoy has the exact same problem. Did you get it fixed? Do you know what is wrong?

Rgrds,

Maurice.

Re: 2003 envoy 6 cd changer "player error" message

2003 was a bad year for GM truck radios. There may be a software update for the radio itself to correct a no load/no eject issue. If there is not a software update for the radio (which the dealer CAN verify), the only other option if you still want your GM radio is to get an exchange unit.
