my kills worth mentioning this week

Been working like crazy, so all of these are on the commute to work each morning.

Today, an orange z28 with a body kit, looked pretty damn good, goes by as I'm entering onto the 'highway'. I take off after it and line up at the next light. It's raining and there's a fair amount of water on the road, so I don't know if he wants to go, but sure enough he notice me catch up, so when it goes green, we are both off. Well kinda, we both spun through 1st...6 tires combined just spinning pointlessly. 2nd I catch, and jump out, and he catches half a second later. He was obviously modded as well, because we basically went up to about 90 with him hanging on my rear bumper the entire time. Closest race I've had in forever. Next light he takes a left, I take a right...hopefully I'll find him again.

3 days ago on the way home, a black gsx with 60 stickers pulls up next to me. He's smiling, I lower my window and he comments on my vr4 being the cleanest he's seen in a long time. I thank him and ask what he's got done, he says a 20G adn supporting mods, and that he's on a tuning run. Asks if I wanna do a pull with him. I say sure. We roll through the light, in 2nd at around 40 he honks it down. I jump out early, but he reels me in midway through 3rd. I let off at 120ish in 4th with him about 4 cars ahead. He keeps going, to what I'm guessing was around 150ish...way out ahead. I wanted to chat, but I wasn't gonna follow him up to 150 with my brake pads in the shape they were. I just let the engine slow the car back down and continued home.

A week ago, I pull up at a light, drinking my coffee, not really paying much attention...when I look to my left and my jaw drops. Sitting right next to me is a pristine silver DB9. I lower my window and try to get the middle aged drivers attention. I compliment the car, and ask if he makes full use of the car's power. He just gives me a big grin....so I now assume it's on. I rev it up, light goes green and I slip teh clutch at 4500rpms. I have an awesome launch, just picture perfect, 1.6 or low 1.7 60' gaurenteed. I'm flying down the road, downpipe roaring, when I look in my rearview and notice the guy isn't even going. Prick. I nail my brakes, let him catch up and stop at the next light to find out what happened. He just says, "I know what mine can do...I just wanted to see what yours could." I respond, "well now you know...jackass"

Those were the only ones really worth mentioning. I had some drunk idiot in a 90s Civic try racing my gf's 4cyl grand am. She didn't race...he flew off, turned off his headlights while 'racing', tried to take the next turn at 70+, hoped a curb, hit a fence, and then continued halfway back onto the road and hit his other drunk friend who had decided to pull over and stop on the left side of the road. He then tossed it into reverse and nearly t-boned us as we were passing by. 3 digits later and the cops had his license plate#....hopefully he didn't get very far or kill anybody.

Nice kills, I hate drunk drivers like that... So you never got a run with the DB9, that would been a nice run to hear.

Nice kills...and im glad another drunk driver is off the road, i was about 6 inches away from getting hit by one last summer. I was actually suprised at how fast my reflexes were to get out of the way in time. But nice kills and hopefully you will find another DB9 to race.

Damn man, some really nice runs there. It's a bummer that the DB9 dude didn't want to go for it. Would love to have read that story.
Maybe next time though, huh?

Re: my kills worth mentioning this week

nice races. i expecially like the race against the z28. maybe it woulda been different provided you both had traction.

but great job nailing the drunk. i know its not fun to drive by drunks, expecially when they cant drive drunk at all.

Re: my kills worth mentioning this week

It's one thing to drive after you drink if you can handle yourself. I'm an avid drinker, so the .08 thing is kinda ridiculous to me personally. But at that point, when you are turning off your headlights, and just not aware of traffic around you or anything, it just boggles my mind. I mean it was funny and scary at the same time. Funny that he only hit his friend and that everybody was ok (as far as I could tell)...but scary in the fact htat I almost got t-boned 2x in an 1/8 of a mile, as well he could easily have had a headon collision at ~80mph when he turned his headlights off.

As far as the DB9, I'd love to run him, but I've never seen him before, and it was on one of the larger roads around here, so he could have easily just been passing through.

Why does that make him a jackass? Just becasue you assumed he wanted to race? He was smiling becasue...well...imagine how many people bother him about the car. He was just being nice...people in that age range, who spend $150K+ on a car dont really buy a car to race other people, and if they do its pretty rare. I dont know, I mean, if you bought a car for that price, would you race some guy you didn't know? I think its a little harsh to call him a jackass because of that...just my

I dont think he says hes a jackass because of the smile. It's because the guy knew how fast his DB9 was and wanted to see the VR4 go at it. Igov knows how fast his VR4 is (obviously) and wanted to see the aston martin in action, like everyone with half a brain...

He basically got blue balled

Re: my kills worth mentioning this week

^^I see what you mean...but I doubt any one of us would act differently if we were in the DB9 owners place.
