I Just Sold My 97 Gmc Sierra And I Am Looking Into Buying A 2006 Monte Carlo Ltz. I Can't Really Find Any Aftermarket Parts For It. I Was Just Wondering If Anyone Had A Website, Where I Could Find Parts? Also On Every Car I've Owned I've Had Some Kind Of Exhaust And This Well Be No Different. So I Was Wondering If Anyone Had Advice On A Good Exhaust System For This? I Want It To Have A Nice Rumble, Not To Loud, But Not To Quite. I Know It's A V6 And Won't Have The Old Rumble Of My V8, But Just Looking For Best Sound For It.

I am interested too- I have read that most guys with the V6 engine have to go custom becasue all the aftermarket is for the V8 guys

What I want to know, is if the WAI offered for the V8 works on our car (I have an LTZ also). The sizing look sright in the pictures; the only way I can see it not working is if for somereason the TB's are different sizes- but even that seems like it would be an easy fix with some different tubing

Once I get home from school, I am going to go to a dealership and take a look under the hood of an SS and see if the intake is the same- if so, WAI here I come!

Also, I am planning to just price out some custom exhausts, and hopefully get an exhaust cutout. I may also just keep the stock exhaust and get the cutout and some nice chrome tips...thoughts?

I was thinking of keeping the stock exhaust system and just changing the mufflers to 40 flowmaster with 3" or 3.5" chrome slashed tips

I can sympathize with your plight. I too have had no luck in finding performance parts for this car. I have a 2006 LT3 with the 3.9L LZ-9. I have been unsucessful at locating the parts I wanted.

I think I have covered most of the usual W-body sources in my search.

It is a great car. I average 25 MPG every tank. I am afraid the only way there will be perf parts is to fabricate them.

As far as exhausts there are some great soundclips in this forum somewhere that are pretty impressive sounding of this very car. I think they are linked to one of the internet video sight.

It's a shame that there aren't any performance parts for the 3.9 . The good old 3.8 had TONS of perf things, particularly the supercharged one. The main reason for this is probably that the 3.8 was all iron and could handle the extra perf. The 3.9 has an iron block and aluminum heads. The 3.9 is based off the 3.5, which is based off the horrible 3.4 . The 3.4 has been around for many years and is very "unmoddable" in the sense there just isn't all that much that can be done to get lots of power out of it. These engines are also 60 degree, opposed to the 3.8 being a 90 degree. I would say the best possible thing to do to an 06 and beyond Monte Carlo would be to swap the 3.9 or 3.5 for a 3.8 supercharged series III. They should fit, as the 3800 would come from a Grand Prix, which is essentially the same car. The the perf options would be virtually endless.

Yeah could do that, but I'm not going to do that to a perfectly good car that is pretty much brand new, and that is still under warrenty. I'll just wait a couple years until the parts come out, since I'll have this car for quite awhile.

I agree. There is no reason so far that I have found that would make that a primary option.

I am completely satisfied with the performance stock as well as acceptable MPG for my driving conditions, especially as it is a DD anyway.

Fabbing an intake is not that demanding skill or talent-wise so I'm sure I can accomplish that much myself. Factor a blower or turbo setup works on almost anything with wheels. I think you could count on those modest mods giving 75-100HP. That would put it around 350 HP.

As it stands I compare my Monte very closely powerwise to my 2000 GTP but the GTP gets the edge gas mileage wise by a noticeable amount. If the performance was not acceptable that would be one thing but I can live with it for now.

So how does it compare to the gtp in power, does it run with it? jw. I test drove one on Sat. and I'm going back monday and going to buy it. I was just wondering where do you turn the traction control off at, I didn't see anything.

I too am looking into purchasing a Monte Carlo and have researched them a bit and I just wanted to correct this statement.

The 3.9l (LZ9) was an all new motor to GM...not based off of anything old. The LZ4 and LZE 3.5 liters found in the 2006-up Montes and Impalas is based off the 3.9l LZ9.

The LX9 3.5l is the one based off the old 3.4-3.1-2.8l GM V-6s. This one is gone for 2007 and replaced with the superior LZ4.

They may have newer versions of the 3.5 and 3.9 but they are still based off the original 3.5, which was based directly of the 3.4

The TC switch is located adjacent to the light switch that controls the dash brightness, that button in the middle pushes in and comes out to adjust the lights. The the top and bottom area surrounding that button are switches as well. The top switch is the trunk release, the bottom switch is the TC button.

Keep in mind my GTP is a stock 2000 with 154,000 miles on it, but is still solid and in reasonably good condition.

The GTP is very strong and I would rate it a slight bit faster. From a standing start to 40 the 3.9L Monte is quicker but the GTP catchs up quickly. At 80 in the Monte if you mat it it will accelerate but not nearly as quickly as the GTP.

The fastest I have driven the GTP was 127 MPH and it felt solid and secure. The Monte tops out at about 113 and feels solid and secure as well.
The GTP gets better mileage avg 26-28 MPG on my personal commute, the Monte avg is 24-26.

The GTP rides harsher, the struts have been replaced with KYB's; the Monte is smooth and silent but still handles at speed with confidence.

I have no complaints about the GTP at all. With the exception of the window motor/controllers having to be replaced rather early(41,000)also that has been a recurring problem of the gen, and the idler pulley I had to replace, it has been bulletproof.

I am hoping this latest itteration of the W-body is as satisfying to own. So far it is a great car! And White is such a great color for a change.

K, thanks for the answers. The one I am getting is white also, i'm planning on tinting the back windows in 5% for sure and I might tint the front 2 int 20% or 35%.

Not newer versions...new engines all together. The new motors have different features such as DoD and variable valve timing that will not fit or work in the old blocks.
