crx si motor swap suggestions?

i bought a 89 crx si about 2 months ago and im planning on swapping but i need help on this one.... can someone tell me if this is the right thing to do.....i was planning on throwing in a b16a from the jdm crx siR just by itself....but recently a friend suggested putting in a b20 with a b16a head and a gsr tranny.... and im back and forth deciding what to do what would be better......what should i do........ i know the b20 is not vtec but if i put a b16 head on will it be vtec?help
