Re: 2001 laredo key fob

I just bought a second (#2) fob for my 1998 JGC. What was jeep's reason to have this dealer programmed? Revenue? Is there any advantage to the consumer with the new dealer programmed fobs? Older fobs could be programmed by the driver. thanks

Or anyone else who knows how. So the advantage is added security for '99 and up.
If you buy the fob from the dealer, they will program it for no charge.
