Question Throttle body?

I read in a book called "Civic Duty" that you can take the 65mm throttle body out of a 5.0 Mustang and put it in a civic. First off is this true? And second, if it is, does it matter what year model of the Mustang it comes out of? Thanks a bunch!

Re: Throttle body?

do you have any kind of modification to justify this? I've thought about upgrading a 68mm TB eventually and i'm going to be in the mid 300whp range

Re: Throttle body?

Yes it is true, but I believe you need an adapter plate for it to fit onto a honda or acura intake manifold. No clue what year mustang either. But it really won't do you any good unless you have the mods to need a bigger throttle body, and a big enough hole in intake manifold (65mm) to make use of it for other mods.

Re: Throttle body?

Or you can just use a throttle body from a different Honda/Acura thus eliminating the need for any special adapters.

What type of mods have you done to the car?

Re: Throttle body?

i've seen people snag an H22 throttle body and use it on various D series...B series on D series engines and so forth......your best bet since you dont sound like you have a lot of stuff done to the car is to find a larger OEM Honda replacement...

Re: Throttle body?

No, I really haven't done much at all to my engine due to lack of money, but I'm planning on rebuilding the engine with perfomace parts and maybe throwing in some boost too. Thanks for the help!

Those are two phrases that dont go together. If you dont have money, dont waste what little you may have turboing your car. Contrary to popular thought, it isn't easy or cheap. Building a turbo Honda, although fun and exciting, takes a lot of time, effort and money. I'm not in any way telling you not to do it, but if you plan to, make sure that you have $5k saved up...even if your setup would cost $3500...it is expensive and things DO break...

Re: Throttle body?

Oh, believe me I know how expensive and time consuming it is, but not planning on doing it next week either. This is an over the next couple of years thing. I'm just trying to plan ahead and get stuff straitened out before then. Thanks for the help! I think I might just stick with Honda and maybe go with one off an h22 or something. Anything beats a ford, haha.
